So excited to share this week’s video with you guys! It’s a good one and was really fun to make. I used to use soft pastels a lot and sort of got away from them for a bit, but am really excited to re-incorporate them into my adult coloring. They can be a wonderful way to complete a background or large space that wouldn’t be conducive to using colored pencils. Plus, it’s easier and faster and hurts your hand a lot less 🙂 There’s that, too.
You can get a bunch of different pastel kits, here’s a few that I’ll probably pine after…
The Mungyo set is $8 for 64 soft pastels and the Faber-Castell set is $20 for 48. The Faber-Castell set is likely a better quality, but sometimes not! The Mungyo set looks like it has beautiful colors.
Here’s the finished products from this week’s video so that you can see them up-close.
I love the way that the light green leaves (done in Faber-Castell colored pencils) color tone changed a little bit. Arguably, not much, but it took on an interesting shimmer that almost reads as metallic. I really like it!
Will definitely be finishing more of my colored pencil work with soft pastels. Next, I have in mind to try a sky….
